Burnside Mural and Steps

The Burnside Mural and Steps serve as a vivid chronicle of Glen Park history, transforming a once drab retaining wall and staircase into a vibrant mosaic landmark. The project features a mural by the Twin Walls Mural Company that depicts the neighborhood’s evolution, from its origins as Ramaytush Ohlone hunting grounds to its unexpected industrial past. Specifically, the artwork commemorates the site of a nineteenth century dynamite factory, personally licensed by Alfred Nobel, which was famously destroyed in a massive explosion.
