Dorothy Erskine Park

Dorothy Erskine Park occupies a steep, rocky outcropping that was once part of a larger private land holding known as the Crocker Estate Tract. While the surrounding area was divided into residential lots in the early twentieth century, this specific hillside remained undeveloped for decades because its rugged slope made standard home construction nearly impossible. The city eventually acquired the land in 1977, transforming a patch of unused terrain into a preserved natural space that now offers sweeping views of the southeast of San Francisco.
