Panoramic Views at Twin Peaks

You are standing near two prominent summits that dominate the skyline of San Francisco. Early Spanish settlers once referred to these hills as Los Pechos de la Chola, or the Breasts of the Indian Maiden, due to their distinct, rounded profiles. Long before that, the indigenous Ohlone people viewed the two peaks as a single, united mountain representing a husband and wife who were separated by a great spirit because they argued too frequently. The names used for the peaks today, Eureka and Noe, reflect this geological pairing as they stand only six hundred and sixty feet apart near the geographic center of the city.
