Rainbow Honor Walk

The Rainbow Honor Walk began as a response to the profound loss of an entire generation during the height of the AIDS epidemic. Its founder, David Perry, had an epiphany while walking past the historic Castro Theatre in the late nineteen eighties. He realized that if the stories of those being lost were not actively preserved, they risked being forgotten or rewritten by others. He imagined a permanent sidewalk installation, similar to a walk of fame, to serve as a lasting source of education and inspiration for future generations.
