Noe Peak

Noe Peak earns its name from Don Jose de Jesus Noe, the last Mexican alcalde, or mayor, of Yerba Buena before it became San Francisco. He held title to the massive Rancho San Miguel, a vast expanse of grazing land that encompassed these very heights. The summit of this peak marks a historical boundary of that original land grant, which once covered much of the central city as untamed, grassy pasture.
