Randall Museum

The Randall Museum sits atop Corona Heights Park, a location that bears little resemblance to its industrial past. Before it became a home for science and nature, this hill was an active rock quarry. Throughout the early twentieth century, the site was scarred by heavy blasting to harvest rock and bricks, an operation that was deeply unpopular with local residents because it frequently damaged nearby homes and endangered children. The quarrying only ceased after a violent incident in nineteen fifteen involving a worker and one of the site's owners, finally clearing the way for the land to eventually be reclaimed as public space.
