La Doña RESILIENT Mural

You are standing before a mural on the side of the Casa Guadalupe market that honors the local musician Cecilia Peña-Govea, known professionally as La Doña. The portrait captures her gazing over the neighborhood with a confident expression, flanked by the bold, capitalized word Resilient. Lead artist Vanessa Agana Espinoza, alongside collaborators Robz and Vogue, painted this piece in the summer of twenty twenty-one. The mural was part of a citywide art campaign funded by the San Francisco Giants to celebrate the spirit of the Bay Area during a time of significant change.
