The Wiggle

The Wiggle is one of the most practical pieces of infrastructure in San Francisco, yet its path was shaped by nature long before the city grid was ever laid out. It follows the bed of a prehistoric stream that carved a natural, low-lying valley through the landscape. By zig-zagging through these specific streets, cyclists can travel from the eastern side of the city toward the Pacific Ocean while avoiding the notoriously steep hills that define the rest of San Francisco.
