Battery Chamberlin

historic

Battery Chamberlin sits low against the earth, identified by a pair of massive concrete gun emplacements facing the Pacific Ocean. Built in nineteen oh four, these fortifications replaced earlier, smaller batteries as technology advanced. The site features a disappearing gun carriage, a mechanical marvel designed to pull a cannon down behind a wall to load it, keeping the crew safe from enemy fire. During the second world war, soldiers manned these guns, constantly scanning the fog for ships that never appeared.
