Shaking Man

The Shaking Man stands as a bronze bronze testament to professional anxiety, catching visitors near the entrance to Yerba Buena Gardens. Artist Terry Allen designed the five-foot-five-inch figure to appear as though he is vibrating or trembling in place, a visual effect achieved by triplicating his hands, legs, and facial features. Clad in a suit and clutching a briefcase, the executive greets passersby with an eerie, perpetual motion that suggests he is perpetually caught in the high-stress currents of the surrounding business district.
