Lamont Plaza features a circular paved area anchored by a mural depicting colorful, stylized sunflowers and local scenes. It serves as the physical intersection of Mount Pleasant and Lamont Streets, functioning as a community square for the neighborhood. In the nineteen eighties, the plaza became a flashpoint for local tensions when police confrontations sparked protests over the treatment of Latino residents. Today, the space hosts farmers markets and neighborhood gatherings, centering on the mural that replaced earlier, fading concrete patterns.
