The Ontario features a sprawling, seven story red brick facade that stretches across the entire block, punctuated by white stone trim and rounded bay windows. Built in nineteen oh six as a luxury apartment hotel, it promised residents a life of ease with a full service dining room and maid service. A young J. Edgar Hoover lived in these apartments with his mother during his early years at the Department of Justice. The building holds hundreds of individual units behind those heavy brick walls.
