Cabbagetown Park

park garden

The steep, grassy slope rising above the sidewalk marks Cabbagetown Park, a green patch carved directly into the former site of the Fulton Bag and Cotton Mill’s workers’ housing. Before this park existed, dozens of small mill cottages crowded this ground, housing the families who ran the massive textile looms down the street. When those houses were cleared decades ago, the neighborhood salvaged this space to keep the community connected. It holds the ghosts of the porches where residents once gathered.
