Fulton Cotton Mill Loft Apartments

The Fulton Cotton Mill stretches for three blocks, its massive red brick facade punctuated by hundreds of arched windows that seem to multiply as you approach. Opened in eighteen eighty-one, it operated as the largest cotton mill in the South. Workers lived in small wooden houses built by the company, creating a self-contained industrial village. In nineteen ninety-nine, a fire tore through the roof, leaving the structure gutted and exposed to the sky, yet the heavy masonry walls refused to collapse.
