Cadillac Palace Theatre

The Cadillac Palace Theatre features a tall, narrow facade faced with glazed white terra cotta, topped by a heavy, ornate cornice. This building opened in nineteen twenty-six as the New Palace Theatre, designed to host lavish vaudeville acts and touring films. Its interior was famously modeled after the opulent palaces of the French kings, featuring massive chandeliers and elaborate plasterwork. During the Great Depression, the stage went dark for years, leaving the grand hall empty while the city outside changed around it.
