Mallers Building

The Mallers Building rises sixteen stories above the corner of Wabash and Madison, its terracotta facade still adorned with the ornate details added when it opened in nineteen twelve. For decades, this address served as the center of Chicago’s jewelry trade. Jewelers occupied nearly every office, creating a secure, bustling vertical ecosystem. A teenage Harry Winston began his career here as an apprentice, sorting stones in the very offices where local merchants traded diamonds long before he opened his famous Fifth Avenue store.
