Chagall's Four Seasons

The Four Seasons mosaic on Dearborn Street stands seventy feet long and fourteen feet high, wrapped around four sides of a rectangular masonry wall. Marc Chagall designed this piece in nineteen seventy-four, using thousands of hand-cut glass and stone tiles to depict Chicago's skyline, sun, and birds. When the mosaic was dedicated, the artist visited the site, reportedly touching the tiles with his own hands to ensure the texture matched his vision for how the light would hit the city.
