The Newtown Creek Nature Walk is a public esplanade that wraps around the edge of the citys largest wastewater resource recovery facility. While the surrounding waterway has a history as one of the most polluted industrial sites in the country, this space serves as a striking intersection of nature, municipal infrastructure, and art. Artist George Trakas designed the walk to reclaim a long-inaccessible shoreline, using his work to bridge the gap between Greenpoints industrial past and its environmental future.
