Koninklijke Hoofdgilde Sint-Sebastiaan binnen Brugge

The Koninklijke Hoofdgilde Sint-Sebastiaan in Bruges is marked by a distinctive white stepped gable topped with a tall, slender tower that reaches toward the sky. Archers founded this guild in the fourteenth century to help defend the city walls. They practiced their aim in the gardens behind these walls for hundreds of years. King Charles the Second spent his exile here during the sixteen fifties, regularly joining the members on the archery range and eventually becoming the guild’s honorary king.
