Le Cercle de l'eau

Le Cercle de l'eau is a circular granite fountain positioned at the intersection of several pedestrian pathways. Its surface features a series of narrow, concentric channels carved into the stone, which direct water toward a central basin. The sculpture serves as a functional map of the local hydrology, tracing how water flows from the mountains surrounding Annecy down into the lake. Sculptor Christine O'Loughlin designed the piece in nineteen ninety-four to visualize the city's continuous, unseen reliance on these natural alpine springs.
