Marché d’Annecy

The Marché d’Annecy fills the narrow, cobblestone streets of the Old Town with rows of wooden stalls under striped awnings. This market dates back to the seventeenth century when the town granted local farmers and artisans the right to sell their produce here twice a week. At that time, traders hauled fresh mountain cheeses and lake fish into the center on mule carts. The stalls still occupy the same winding passage between the centuries-old houses today, just as they have for generations.
