Église Saint Maurice

The Église Saint Maurice wears a distinct, pale facade of sun-bleached stone that separates it from the deeper, darker colors of the surrounding Vieille Ville. Built in the fifteenth century for the Dominican order, it served as a convent church. Inside, the architecture leans into the Flamboyant Gothic style, featuring slender, arching pillars that pull the eye upward. A local countess once commissioned a vibrant fresco of the Virgin Mary here, which remains hidden for years at a time behind later renovations.
