Musée-Château d'Annecy

The Musée-Château d'Annecy dominates the skyline with its massive, thick-walled keep and a distinct, pointed wooden roof that rises above the surrounding slate tiles of the old town. Once the residence of the Counts of Geneva, the structure suffered through multiple fires and decades of abandonment. In the nineteen fifties, the city acquired the ruins and began a decades-long restoration project. Today, the fortress houses a collection of regional art and natural history exhibits within its cold, medieval stone chambers.
