The Jardin des Poètes, or Garden of the Poets, is a peaceful sanctuary located in the sixteenth arrondissement, right on the edge of the historic greenhouses of Auteuil. It was created in nineteen fifty-four at the urging of Pascal Bonetti, who served as the honorary president of the French Society of Poets. The city of Paris dedicated this space specifically to honor the country's literary heritage. As you walk through the lawns, look for the numerous metal and stone plaques scattered throughout the garden. Each one is engraved with verses from both famous and obscure French writers. Interspersed among these poetic tributes are various statues and busts, all keeping watch over the quiet footpaths.
