Square Léon

Square Léon features a collection of mature plane trees and a central wrought-iron fountain that has functioned as a neighborhood anchor since nineteen thirty-two. The square sits on land once belonging to the Vaudémont family, who subdivided their estate as the neighborhood industrialized. During the late nineteenth century, this patch of green served as a playground for children living in the crowded tenements nearby. Workers would sit here to eat their lunch while watching the neighborhood transform around them.
