Holy Trinity Cathedral and the Russian Orthodox Spiritual and Cultural Center

The Holy Trinity Cathedral is a modern addition to the Parisian skyline, completed in 2016. Its five golden onion domes are covered in ninety thousand sheets of gold and palladium, a design choice meant to reflect the traditional aesthetics of the fifteenth-century Dormition Cathedral in Moscow. The central dome represents Jesus Christ, while the four surrounding domes represent the four evangelists, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Despite these traditional elements, the structure itself is an example of contemporary architecture, standing in sharp contrast to the classic stone buildings that surround it along the banks of the Seine.
