Magic-City

The five-story facade of Magic-City stands on Rue de l'Universite with a distinct, narrow profile that hides a vast interior volume. Opened in nineteen hundred and thirteen by the circus director Alfred Court, this venue functioned as a grand recreation hall. It hosted everything from boxing matches and jazz concerts to elaborate roller skating parties. During the First World War, the government converted the space into a hospital, and later, the building served as a storage depot before its demolition in nineteen forty-three.
