Mères et Grands-Mères de la Place de Mai Garden

This garden serves as a tribute to the Mothers and Grandmothers of the Plaza de Mayo, an organization born out of profound grief and courage in Argentina. During the military dictatorship between 1976 and 1983, thousands of young people were abducted, tortured, and murdered by the regime. These women began gathering in the main square of Buenos Aires, the Plaza de Mayo, to demand answers about the fate of their children who had been disappeared. They famously wore white headscarves during their weekly silent marches to identify one another and to draw international attention to the state-sponsored terror. The garden here in Paris preserves the memory of their movement and their relentless, decades-long pursuit of truth and justice.
