Vélodrome d'Hiver

The Vélodrome d hiver was built in nineteen zero nine to replace a cycling track that had been demolished to improve the view of the Eiffel Tower. Henri Desgrange, the visionary behind the Tour de France, spearheaded its creation to serve as a premier indoor arena for the city. It quickly became a centerpiece of Parisian athletic and social life, hosting six day cycle races, ice hockey matches, boxing bouts, and even circuses. Its fame was such that it featured prominently in French cinema and literature, serving as a vibrant symbol of the city's modern sporting culture during the early twentieth century.
