Paris plage quai de la marne

cultural

The Quai de la Marne section of Paris Plages is defined by the wooden decks and lounge chairs that appear every summer directly along the edge of the Bassin de la Villette. What began in two thousand two as an effort to bring the seaside to residents who could not afford a vacation has become a permanent seasonal fixture. City workers haul in tons of sand and pine furniture each July, turning this former industrial canal wharf into a public swimming and leisure area.
