Jardin d'Acclimatation railway

The railway you are approaching is the oldest passenger-carrying narrow-gauge line in France. It began operation in 1878 to ferry visitors from the Porte Maillot gate into the heart of the Jardin d'Acclimatation. When it first debuted, the carriages were pulled by teams of ponies rather than engines. This horse-drawn service continued for over thirty years before the line eventually modernized with tractors and, much later, electric engines. Despite these changes, the route remains a nostalgic link to the nineteenth century, maintaining the same path through the woods that early visitors took more than a century ago.
