Alhambra Theater

The current Alhambra theater is a modern venue that opened in 2008, but its stage rests within a building that once held a hidden secret for local workers. Before it became a concert hall, the site functioned as the Theatre Art Deco des Cheminots, a facility built in 1920 by the Paris Fraternal Railway Association. While the space featured elegant mahogany doors and chandeliers, it was famously never legally recognized as a public theater by city authorities. For a period in the 1930s, the venue even contained a drive-in theater designed exclusively for railway workers, though the facility was rarely open and eventually converted into commercial offices.
