Carré Marigny

The Carré Marigny features two rows of glass-fronted stalls nestled under the horse chestnut trees near the Avenue Gabriel. These nineteenth century kiosks host stamps, postcards, and old booksellers every Thursday and weekend. In eighteen sixty-one, Napoleon the Third authorized these merchants to set up their portable tables here. While the street vendors once roamed the city, this patch of parkland offered them a permanent home. Some of these stands have passed through the same families for generations.
