The Palais de la découverte features a massive glass-domed rotunda that sits directly across the Seine from the Grand Palais. Jean Perrin, a Nobel Prize-winning physicist, founded the museum in nineteen thirty-seven to prove that science belongs to everyone, not just academics. During the Paris International Exposition, he filled these halls with working laboratories where visitors watched researchers conduct experiments in real time. Perrin insisted that the public see the messy, unpredictable process of discovery rather than just the final results.
