Théâtre Marigny

The site where the Théâtre Marigny now stands began its theatrical life in 1835 as a venue for a magician and physicist. His small performance space earned the ominous nickname Castle of the Underworld because of the dark, mysterious magic acts he performed there for curious Parisians. That early iteration eventually struggled financially, leaving the prime location in the gardens of the Champs-Élysées open for a new chapter.
