Espace Niemeyer

The Espace Niemeyer is the historic headquarters of the French Communist Party. It was designed by the legendary Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer, who accepted the commission after fleeing a right-wing military coup in his home country. He refused any payment for his work, viewing the project as a solidarity act for his political peers. The building represents a rare instance of Niemeyer bringing his signature curves and biomorphic style to the streets of Paris.
