Institut kurde de Paris

The Institut kurde de Paris was founded in February 1983 by a group of prominent Kurdish intellectuals and artists, including the acclaimed filmmaker Yilmaz Guney. Guney had famously won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival just one year earlier for his film Yol, which he directed from prison. His involvement helped provide immediate international visibility for this new organization, which aimed to serve as a cultural beacon for a people who were at the time experiencing severe political fragmentation and displacement across the Middle East.
