Maison Folie Moulins

The Maison Folie Moulins presents a jagged, modern silhouette of rusted steel and glass that cuts directly into the red brick of a nineteenth-century textile factory. This space exists because the city transformed a decaying industrial site into a cultural hub for the Lille two thousand four European Capital of Culture project. A local worker once operated looms inside these walls, but today, residents gather here to rehearse plays, attend concerts, or watch exhibitions in rooms that retain their original massive exposed iron beams.
