Parc Josette et Maurice Audin

park garden

The iron gate to this small park displays the names Josette and Maurice Audin in simple metal lettering. Maurice was a young mathematics professor and anti-colonial activist who vanished in Algiers in nineteen fifty-seven during the Algerian War. His wife, Josette, spent decades demanding the truth about his abduction and death. The French state officially acknowledged his murder by military personnel only in twenty eighteen. This quiet green space serves as a permanent, local address for their long fight for public recognition.
