The Kunibertstürmchen is a small, round stone tower that sits tucked against the base of the Saint Kunibert Church. It marks the final remnant of the medieval city wall that once circled Cologne. While the rest of the fortifications were torn down in the nineteenth century to make room for a growing city, this segment survived because it was integrated into the grounds of the parish. A single, narrow slit window faces outward, reminding passersby of the days when archers guarded these riverbanks.
