The Swanmil building stands in Bukom with a facade of weathered, pastel-colored concrete and a distinctively heavy, tiered silhouette. It was once the center of Accra’s commercial life, built during the mid-twentieth century when European trading houses operated through grand, multipurpose structures. While the ground floor held shops and warehouses for imported textiles, the upper levels functioned as residential quarters for the city’s rising merchant class. Today, the building echoes with the daily bustle of Bukom's informal traders and local residents.
