Brazil House

The Brazil House in Accra has a distinct, weathered facade featuring vibrant, hand-painted murals that celebrate the Tabom people. Built in the nineteenth century, it served as the home for families who returned to Ghana from Brazil after the Malê Revolt in eighteen thirty-five. These returnees brought specialized skills in architecture, tailoring, and agriculture that reshaped the local economy. Today, the building functions as a community center and a museum dedicated to preserving the history of the Afro-Brazilian diaspora in James Town.
