The Cathedral Church of the Most Holy Trinity

The Cathedral Church of the Most Holy Trinity rises above High Street with its distinct, soot-colored stone walls and heavy Gothic arches. Built in the late nineteenth century by the Church of England, it stands as the oldest Anglican cathedral in the country. During construction, workers used locally quarried stone that darkened over time, giving the building its somber, heavy appearance. Queen Elizabeth the Second visited here during her nineteen sixty-one tour, sitting in a specially carved chair that remains inside the nave.
