The Dimitris Ammoudi Taverna sits at the water's edge, marked by its distinctive bright blue wooden chairs and tables that sit directly on the concrete pier, mere inches from the Aegean Sea. This spot started as a simple fisherman's storage room for nets and equipment. Years ago, the owner, Dimitris, began grilling the daily catch for local sailors right on the dock. His family still operates the kitchen, preparing octopus and fish pulled from the harbor below the village of Oia.
