The stone perimeter wall of Hallargarðurinn stands out with its heavy, dark masonry, enclosing a formal garden hidden from the wind by mature trees. Designed by landscape architect Guðmundur Hlíðdal in nineteen fifty-three, this park served as a quiet space for the neighboring residential area, specifically planned to protect delicate flowers from the harsh Icelandic climate. A bronze statue of a young girl sits near the center, cast by sculptor Ásmundur Sveinsson, watching over the symmetrical paths that cut through the manicured lawn.
