Vampire Mural

landmark

A spray-painted vampire with elongated fangs and heavy, dark eyes covers the side of the building on the corner of Laugavegur and Vatnsstígur. This mural appeared in two thousand fourteen as part of a street art project that invited international artists to decorate the city walls. While much of Reykjavík’s public art celebrates colorful abstract patterns or local folklore, this creature occupies the space with a sudden, gritty aesthetic. It belongs to the artist Dface, who often creates pop-culture inspired characters.
