Flurys

Flurys stands out on Park Street with its signature blue-and-white awning and the display of vintage glass cases filled with rum balls and chocolate boats. Mr. and Mrs. Flury opened this tearoom in nineteen twenty-seven, bringing Swiss confectionery traditions to a city then known as Calcutta. During the nineteen thirties, the shop became a fixture for the British expatriate community who gathered here for afternoon tea and almond pastries. Today, the original mahogany counters remain as they were nearly a century ago.
