The red brick facade of Park Mansion stands out against the surrounding gray concrete, its arched windows and sprawling balconies tracing the grand ambitions of nineteen-ten. Built by the merchant Johannes Carapiet Galstaun, the building served as a massive residential block for the city's growing elite. Galstaun was a flamboyant Armenian businessman who owned vast swaths of Calcutta property, but he eventually lost his fortune and his buildings to creditors. Today, those offices and apartments still hold his name.
