Jaffa Port

Jaffa Port is defined by the jagged, porous rock of the Andromeda Rock sitting just offshore, breaking the Mediterranean swells. For thousands of years, this was the primary gateway into the Holy Land, where cedar logs from Lebanon arrived for Solomon’s temple and where pilgrims landed before trekking to Jerusalem. In nineteen forty-eight, the port transformed when the Israeli navy established its first base here, turning a site once crowded with citrus crates and passenger steamers into a staging ground for a new state.
