Jaffa Light

The Jaffa Light stands as a skeletal iron tower, painted white and topped with a red lantern room, perched at the edge of the harbor. Built in nineteen sixty-five, this lighthouse replaced a smaller version that had been deactivated years earlier. Sailors navigating the Mediterranean relied on its rhythmic flash to avoid the jagged rocks surrounding the old port. Before the technology shifted to automated systems, a lighthouse keeper lived on-site, manually tending the lens and recording the arrival of fishing boats.
